Books have been written on this subject, and the conflict and feuds about where the "hot" slot machines are positioned in a casino are still passionate - over sixty yrs after slots were 1st placed in casinos.

The standard rule is that the most favorable slots were put just inside the main doorway of the casino; so that everyone passing by would see real jackpot winners and be baited to come unto the gaming floor and play. Our philosophy is that this is definitely no longer the case.

Almost all of the mega casinos today are humongous complexes ... you can no longer see inside from the sidewalk, so there is no longer a reason to position the 'loose' slots close to any entrances or exits.
